Downpatrick Cinema Complex Opened

Semple & McKillop Ltd were delighted to attend the official opening of the brand new cinema and entertainment complex in Downpatrick. The complex, located close to the town centre, includes a six-screen complex which has seating for over 1,000 people, a children’s play zone and laser game area as well as a number of restaurants and retail space.

Gerald and Martin Barrett were behind this development which is the most modern of its kind in Ireland featuring the latest digital movie projection and sound systems.

Semple & McKillop Ltd designed the lighting, power and data installations, as well as the ventilation and heating solutions for the six screens. Particular care was required in ventilation and heating design to provide a cost effective, rapid response solution which is sympathetic to the onerous sound and vibration requirements within a cinema setting.

Geda Construction acted as the civil and structural engineers and main contractors.

The opening of this entertainment complex marks Semple & McKillop’s growing involvement in commissions within the leisure and recreational sector.
