EAI commend Energy Centre at SHSCT

Semple & McKillop are delighted to have been recognised at the annual Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Awards gala dinner held recently. In one of the most competitive categories, Energy Efficiency Award – Major Users, Semple & McKillop were shortlisted for their energy efficient solution for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT).

The SEAI awards are deemed to be ‘the only awards scheme recognising best practice in energy performance, management and design’. Semple & McKillop were commissioned by the SHSCT to devise and implement a strategy to provide a robust, economical and energy efficient heating solution for the Daisy Hill Hospital site. The measured results are reduced total site heating costs by 50% and carbon dioxide emissions by 60%. Further and additional savings shall be realised as a consequence of the installation of a combined heat and power plant within the new energy centre.

Semple & McKillop have significant experience in large scale energy reduction projects in the health, education and the private sectors. Their work with the Southern Health & Social Care Trust also received recognition in 2009 with St Luke’s Hospital site project receiving the ‘Leading Energy Efficiency Project Award’.
