Semple & McKillop are proud to be leading the mechanical and electrical consulting services for the new £13.5 million Driver & Vehicle Agency Test Centre in Mallusk, Co. Antrim. We’re excited to share the progress of this important development, which will significantly enhance vehicle testing services in Northern Ireland.

The new centre, currently under construction, will feature a 10-lane vehicle testing area, including two pit-based lanes for heavy goods vehicles, seven ramp-based lanes for light vehicles, and a dedicated bay for motorcycle testing. The development also includes a two-storey administrative building.

Semple and McKillop have been responsible for the design and coordination of all services related to the testing equipment. The facility will incorporate a state-of-the-art, four-stage vehicle testing process, using the latest MOT testing technology. This upgrade will provide a modern, efficient, and fully compliant testing environment, including a cutting-edge admissions testing facility that aligns with the 2014/45/EU regulation.

With construction progressing as planned, the centre is expected to be completed and handed over in Autumn 2025. Project is on track to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
