Semple & McKillop were appointed as M&E Consulting Engineers for a large extension to Our Lady’s Secondary School, Castleblayney. The extension provided the school with a number of new specialist teaching spaces including new technology suites, an art room and science labs.

The project involved a number of major refurbishments and upgrades to existing site infrastructure prior to the construction of the new extension, including upgrades to electrical supply, diversion of site services for new car parking spaces, new rain-water harvesting installations and LPG gas compounds.

Semple McKillop were responsible for the design, planning, tender and inspections for the new extension.

Once the extension was complete we embarked on a major upgrade of the existing heating centre, converting it from oil to gas to provide heating to the existing school as well as the new 1700m² extension. This provided the entire school campus with a fully automated intelligent heating system, supplied from one centralised plant room fitted with high efficiency condensing boilers and a Building Energy Management System.

Semple & McKillop were responsible for the survey, design, PSDP, tendering and project management & delivery of the heating upgrade.
